When people ask me about HYROX's sudden rise, I can't help but smile. For me, it's anything but sudden. I first encountered this incredible race eight years ago and knew immediately that it had enormous potential.
Even back then, I encouraged our original boot campers to take on the challenge. The number of participants was small – HYROX was just beginning its growth – but I was convinced we could pull it off. Why? Because the core of our work at ByBo lies in functional training, which combines strength and endurance. I was, and still am, convinced that this race is truly suitable for everyone, regardless of their current fitness level.

Fast forward to today: The World Series of Fitness Racing has exploded globally – and I love it! This surge in popularity, especially in the last 2-3 years, is fantastic because it gives people a defined, tangible goal to train towards. I recently had the honor of competing in the Doubles category at HYROX Stuttgart alongside one of my incredible long-term clients – whose inspiring story will soon deserve its own blog post! Now I'm focusing on the next challenge: I'll be trying my luck in the Individual category at the HYROX St. Gallen race. This hands-on experience underscores our philosophy: We train together, we compete together, and we grow stronger as a community. Here are my tips for getting started:
Find a good course.
Pay attention to technique: quality over quantity. It's better to practice slowly and precisely than quickly and sloppily.
Regularity is key: Two to three times a week is enough to see rapid progress.
Don't forget to warm up: Prepare your body with light cardio and stretching exercises.
Plan a cool-down: After training, stretching and relaxation help to avoid muscle soreness.
These steps will equip you perfectly to reach your fitness goal and have lots of fun doing it.
